Mrs. Olakitan Ogungbuyi is an Environmental Scientist with over 21 years hands on multi – faceted experience in Environmental Management & Pollution Control with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), the Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv.), and the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) where she retired voluntarily as Assistant Director in Charge of Waste Management in the Inspection and Enforcement Department in April 2009 to join Environmental Harmony Limited as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology (1986) from the University of Ibadan, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management (1995) of the Dresden University of Technology, Dresden (Federal Republic of Germany), and a Masters Degree in Environmental Pollution Control (1996) of the University of Leeds, Leeds (United Kingdom).

Her Term Paper at the University of Leeds was on the Environmental Assessment of Pollution Control Measures in a Cement Manufacturing Plant: A Case Study of West African Portland Company, Ewekoro Cement Plant.

She has served as Consultant to both Local & International Organizations and has represented Nigeria at several International Seminars, Workshop & Conferences. She was the Alternate Country Leader to the 5th Conference of Parties to the Basel Convention of Trans-boundary Movement of Hazardous Waste and their disposals in Basel Switzerland (6 – 10 December 1999)


A Commonwealth Professional Fellow, she had the unique opportunity of being the first Nigerian on attachment with the Environmental Agency in the United Kingdom as an Environmental Management Professional for 12 weeks in 2008.

She was a member of the Advisory Group of Experts on Compliance & Enforcement of Environmental Conventions in Nairobi, Kenya and in Geneva, Switzerland. She was the Programme Officer, Basel Regional Coordinating Centre for Africa for Training and Technology Transfer at the Federal Ministry of Environment – University of Ibadan Linkage Centre for Cleaner Production Technology and Hazardous Waste Management (2004 – 2007).

Her interests are in Baseline Surveys, Solid & Hazardous Waste Management, Remediation Projects, and Cleaner Production Mechanisms amongst others.

A Fellow of the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan; she worked as National Coordinator to UNIDO on the Cleaner Production Demonstration Project in Textile Industry in Nigeria (2002 – 2003).

While in Germany, she conducted a baseline survey on the willingness and ability of residents at the International Students Hostel in Parkstrassse 5, Dresden to pay for garbage collection and laundry services as part of her studies in March 1995. She carried out a similar study at Carlton Garth Estate in the Little London Area of Leeds, United Kingdom in May 1996.
